Our story: a vegan, a meat lover, and one kitchen

Two of us started Deli Santa Maria. She is vegan. He eats meat. We could not have opened a restaurant that only worked for one of us.

That was the constraint that shaped everything. Every dish that went on the menu had to be worth ordering. The falafel and hummus because they are genuinely good, not because we needed a vegan option. The lamb because it is the best local lamb we could find, not because a mixed menu needed one meat dish.

About 80% of what we cook is vegetarian and vegan. The cakes too. But we do meat and chicken, and a table with mixed diets eats together without anyone compromising. That was always the point.

We cook Middle Eastern and Levantine food. It suits us because the cuisine is built on sharing. Everything comes to the table in the middle. The Meze Balagan is the dish that says it best: a big platter with a bit of everything. You eat it together.

The kitchen is open so you can see what is happening. Most ingredients are local and KM0, a lot from our own farm outside the village. We started in Santa Maria del Cami because we love the town: the market, the quiet streets, the fact that it is fifteen minutes from Palma and still completely itself.

We are open Tuesday to Sunday. Breakfast, brunch and lunch always. Summer dinners too.
